20mm Jim Palmer Handmade Baseball Glove Watch Strap Orioles Omega Panerai 73/125
Up for sale is an all handmade 20mm Baseball Glove Watch Strap.
The baseball glove used for this handmade leather watch strap was an autograph Jim Palmer Spalding glove. Palmer played 19 years in Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. Palmer was the winningest MLB pitcher in the 1970s, totaling 186 wins. He also won at least 20 games in eight different seasons, won three Cy Young Awards and four Gold Gloves during the decade. His 268 Orioles victories are the most in team history. A six-time American League (AL) All-Star, he was also one of the rare pitchers who never allowed a grand slam in any major league contest.
This baseball glove strap measures 20mm (no taper), 73 mm x 125 mm x ~4.5 mm thick. I hand stitched this strap with black Tiger thread - the best waxed synthetic thread available.
This strap features “42-534” on the buckle side and the “Jim Palmer Cy Young Award Winner” on the long side. The keeper features “Advisory Staff”. The first hole was punched at 50mm from the lug. Extra holes can be punched upon request.
The strap comes with a custom Mott screw-in Pre-V style stainless steel buckle. I also have custom Mott bronze and black PVD buckles, which can be exchanged at no additional charge. If not specified, the strap will ship with the buckle as shown.
Sizing: Baseball glove straps that are over 4.5mm tend to wear a bit smaller than their dimensions, since most OEM straps are less than 4 mm thick. If you’re on the fence, I can try the strap on one of my watches. If you’re still not sure, I’d suggest you go with a longer strap or reach out about a custom strap.
Most of my straps will also work with Apple watches. I can test fit adapters on them to make sure there is enough clearance. Please ask before purchasing.
Why Baseball Glove Straps?
Baseball gloves are soft, thick and only get better with time. What better material to make into a watch strap?! The glove and thus the strap is soft yet durable and has acquired patina and character during its lifetime.
The strap is made 100% from the glove it came from, making each strap a limited edition! Mott Straps is the only strap maker using the glove for the entire strap - even the bottom layer. You get the look and the feel of a baseball glove with a Mott Strap.
The softness of glove leather makes the thickness work well on any watch, but especially with larger watches such as Panerai, Kaventsmann, Ennebi, Omega, etc.
