22mm Dick McAuliffe Handmade Baseball Glove Watch Strap Tigers Panerai 74/126
Up for sale is an all handmade custom order 22mm Baseball Glove Watch Strap.
This one of a kind baseball glove strap was made from a vintage Dick McAuliffe Spalding autograph baseball glove. Dick McAuliffe played shortstop and second baseman for the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox. He was a part of the Tigers' 1968 World Series championship and was known for his unusual batting stance. McAuliffe was a 3 time All Star, who never hit higher than .274, but was a significant contributor to the Tigers' offensive output in the 1960s.
This baseball glove strap measures 22mm (no taper), 74 mm x 126 mm x ~5.0 mm thick. I hand stitched this strap with charcoal gray waxed synthetic thread. This strap features the “Dick McAuliffe” autograph on the long side and the “Spalding” logo on the short side. The strap comes with one floating keeper “42-343” which is the glove number. The first hole is 50mm from the lug. Extra holes can be punched upon request.
The strap comes with a custom Mott screw-in Pre-V style stainless steel buckle. I also have custom Mott bronze and black PVD buckles, which can be exchanged at no additional charge. If not specified, the strap will ship with the buckle as shown.
Sizing: Baseball glove straps that are over 4.5mm tend to wear a bit smaller than their dimensions, since most OEM straps are less than 4 mm thick. If you’re on the fence, I can try the strap on one of my watches. If you’re still not sure, I’d suggest you go with a longer strap or reach out about a custom strap.
Most of my straps will also work with Apple watches. I can test fit adapters on them to make sure there is enough clearance. Please ask before purchasing.
Why Baseball Glove Straps?
Baseball gloves are soft, thick and only get better with time. What better material to make into a watch strap?! The glove and thus the strap is soft yet durable and has acquired patina and character during its lifetime.
The strap is made 100% from the glove it came from, making each strap a limited edition! Mott Straps is the only strap maker using the glove for the entire strap - even the bottom layer. You get the look and the feel of a baseball glove with a Mott Strap.
The softness of glove leather makes the thickness work well on any watch, but especially with larger watches such as Panerai, Kaventsmann, Ennebi, Omega, etc.
