24mm Baseball Glove Watch Strap Steve Boros Athletics Tigers Panerai Kaventsmann

The glove used for this strap was an autograph Steve Boros Sonnett baseball glove. 

Boros’ baseball career spanned nearly 50 years, as a player for the University of Michigan, as a player for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.  He was ahead of his time, studying pitching tendencies and all sorts of other analytic approaches.  As a coach, he was known for his work in promoting stealing bases.   He’s credited with helping Tim Raines with becoming the stolen base leader in the National League in 1981 and 1982.  He is also credited with helping identify pitcher tendencies that helped Kirk Gibson hit his famous home run in the 1988 World Series.  

This baseball glove strap measures 24mm (no taper), 80 mm x 124 mm x ~3.5mm to 3.8 mm thick.   I saddle stitched this strap with black Tiger thread, the best waxed polyester thread available.  You’ll notice that I stitched the buckle and long side differently, both with the aim of highlighting the logos on each side of the glove.  Edges were burnished smooth.  

This strap features “Perma-Set Deep Cup Pocket” on the buckle side and the Steve Boros autograph on the long side.  The strap comes with two floating keepers: “Play OK” and “1324” which is the glove number.  The first hole is 50 mm from the lug end.   Extra holes can be punched upon request.  Also included is a key fob made from the glove.  

The strap includes a custom Mott stainless steel pre-V style screw-in buckle as shown.  I can swap out the buckle to a custom Mott screw-in bronze buckle.  Just let me know upon checkout.  

Sizing:  Baseball glove straps that are over 4.5mm tend to wear a bit smaller than their dimensions, since most OEM straps are less than 4 mm thick.  If you’re on the fence, I suggest you go with a longer strap or reach out about a custom strap.
