Up for sale is an all handmade 26mm Baseball Glove Watch Strap.
The glove used for this strap was a vintage autograph Art Ditmar glove. A finesse control pitcher, Ditmar played for the Athletics and Yankees. Ditmar won 47 games for the Yankees in a span of five years, with a career-high 15 in 1960, despite not getting to pitch on a regular basis in a rotation which included Whitey Ford, Bobby Shantz, Don Larsen and Bob Turley. In a nine-season career, Ditmar compiled a 72–77 record with 552 strikeouts and a 3.98 ERA in 1,268 innings.
Fun Fact: Ditmar defeated the Yankees 8–6, when the Athletics played their last game at Shibe Park in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City. In the same game, Yankees regular catcher Yogi Berra played his only game at third base in his career, and teammate Mickey Mantle appeared at shortstop (September 26, 1954).
This baseball glove strap measures 26mm (no taper), 76 mm x 126 mm x ~3.9 mm thick. I hand stitched this strap with cream Tiger thread - the best waxed synthetic thread available.
This strap features “Natural Ball Pocket” on the short side and the “Art Ditmar” autograph on the long side. The strap comes with one floating keeper with the “MacGregor” logo. The first hole is 50mm from the lug. Extra holes can be punched upon request.
The strap comes with a custom Mott screw-in Pre-V style stainless steel buckle. I also have custom Mott bronze and black PVD buckles, which can be exchanged at no additional charge. If not specified, the strap will ship with the buckle as shown.
Sizing: Baseball glove straps that are over 4.5mm tend to wear a bit smaller than their dimensions, since most OEM straps are less than 4 mm thick. If you’re on the fence, I can try the strap on one of my watches. If you’re still not sure, I’d suggest you go with a longer strap or reach out about a custom strap.
Most of my straps will also work with Apple watches. I can test fit adapters on them to make sure there is enough clearance. Please ask before purchasing.
