Up for sale is a set of 4 handmade leather coasters made from baseball gloves made by me, Mott Straps.
Each handmade coaster is made from one glove, preserving the unique designs, logos, and patina it gained over a lifetime—making every coaster one of one.
This set of baseball glove coasters includes a coaster from a Deep Pocket Hand Formed Reach glove, a Big Scoop from an old Wilson glove and two coasters that come from vintage gloves showing players in action. Each coaster is ~ 3 7’8” square.
In the past, I’ve only made these coasters for friends and family because it’s fairly costly and time consuming. To make each coaster, the glove needs to be taken apart, cleaned, conditioned, glue is scraped glue from the back of the leather, the coaster is glued to suede, cut to shape, sanded, stitched and finally burnish the edges smooth. All by hand.
After years of prodding, I am now offering these for sale. As with all handmade products, especially something this unique - if you like it, buy it. There won’t ever be another one that’s the same.
